Earlier this month, around 260 Innovus colleagues came together at the De Vere Wokefield Estate in Reading for the annual Summer Event.
After long periods of remote working, the day offered a welcome chance to reconnect in person. Coaches set off from various sites early in the morning, and once everyone arrived, the day began with breakfast and a chance to catch up with teammates normally seen only on Teams or email. Managing Director Steve Perrett opened the event with a warm welcome before the group split off into activities.
A key part of the day was the Charity Zone, where teams partnered with Sleep Pod, a charity that provides insulated, weatherproof shelters to rough sleepers. Across the day, 72 pods were built by hand using duct tape, bamboo sticks, and aluminium sheets. These will be delivered to communities where they are needed most.
In the Competitive Zone, teams tackled inflatable obstacle courses, played volleyball, and took part in a high-energy game inspired by hungry hippos. Over in the Challenge Zone, participants worked together to solve puzzles, crack riddles, and complete a scavenger hunt.
Later in the afternoon, there was time to unwind with carnival games, ice cream, candy floss and popcorn while exploring the estate.
The weather was mixed, but it didn’t dampen the energy. The day was a clear success and a reminder of the teamwork, energy and spirit that define Innovus. A big thank you goes to everyone who helped organise and took part in making it such a memorable day.
