Say hello to Petra Mayer, our Building Assessment Co-ordinator

31 October 2023 | Written by Samirah Baurtally

When did you join the company?

I joined in November 2022.

What is your business area responsible for?

I work within the surveying team, specifically dealing with external wall/cladding related enquiries from a fire safety perspective. Our team works closely with the surveyors to identify if a building requires assessments to the external wall system and consequently an EWS1 Certificate (if there is combustible cladding on the building).

An EWS1 Certificate is a document, which provides information on the combustibility of the external walls of a building, which then helps lenders in their lending process.

How does your team help customers and clients?

We will check if building needs assessing based on available supporting documentation such as the general Fire Risk Assessment. If further assessments are required, we manage the process with the fire engineers from beginning to end. This includes obtaining quotations, instructing the fire engineers and reviewing the completed reports.

What is unique about Innovus?

We fully understand the importance of what is required, and the urgency needed to even just enable people to sell their homes, so we ensure quick turnaround times. Our experts also provide quick and accurate support. We have a good network of fire engineers we work with on a regular basis and have built up a good rapport with them.

What has been your proudest moment?

I have helped a lot of people (leaseholders and property managers) to find the correct solution for their problems and the feedback I receive from them always puts a smile on my face. My proudest moment would be when I was shortlisted for our latest company employee awards for the ‘Biggest Impact’ category.
