When and how did you join Innovus?

I joined in May 2022. A recruiter approached me and said there was a great opportunity to join a well-established, multi-disciplinary property services company. After attending two rounds of job interviews with my managers, I was lucky enough to become a member of the surveying team.

Describe your role and responsibilities

A building surveyor assesses buildings for structural integrity, safety, and compliance with regulations. We carry out inspections and diagnose building issues such as structural, damp and mould, and faulty building services.

We ensure buildings comply with local and national regulations, including planning, building controls, fire safety codes, and accessibility standards. And create detailed reports outlining the condition of a building, any issues found, and recommendations for repairs or improvements.

We will then prepare a tender document and specification of repair or improvements for tendering. After the contract has been appointed, we act as a contractor administrator to ensure the project is conducted in compliance with the contractual requirements and CDM regulations.

A significant part of our work is also providing advice to property managers, development managers, and leaseholders regarding contraction or improvement projects.

How does your team help our clients and customers?

In various ways by ensuring that their buildings are safe, compliant with regulations, and structurally sound. By offering a combination of technical expertise, regulatory knowledge and practical advice, we empower our clients to make informed decisions, avoid pitfalls, and ensure the value, longevity and safety of their buildings.

What is unique about Innovus?

We provide tailored recommendations based on our client’s specific needs and goals. Our customised approach demonstrates that we fully understand and value their unique situation.

What has been your proudest moment?

I feel pride when I successfully identify the building issues, coordinate necessary repairs, and finally, the client’s problem can be addressed with their satisfaction. This accomplishment can bring a sense of professional satisfaction and pride in my work.
